12 Steps Of AlteredAnything..................

Hi My name is Rhonda and i love to AlterAnything;

I follow 12 steps of AlteredAnything which I apply to my life . Ann Blackwell had a big part in bringing these steps into being...Thanx Ann

12 Steps of AlteredAnything:

1.We admitted we were powerless over altering-that our lives and our studios had become become unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that a Power greater thatn ourselves inspired our creativity.

3.Made a decision to turn our will, our lives and our altering over to the care of the Goddess and allow her to lead us forward.

4.Made a searching and fear less inventory of our supplies and and all the rest of the junk we save up because ,"I might use that someday."

5.Admitted to the Goddess,to ourselves,to all our friends and to other altering artists the exact nature of our accumlation of STUFF for altered art,and that anyone else's trash is our art stash.

6.Were entirely ready to make altered art day and night to the exclusion of all other work, including cleaning, cooking and even putting supplies away after each project.

7. Humbly asked the Goddess to remove our shortcomings, except when this would apply to our alteredanything addiction.

8.Made a list of all persons we harmed and became willing to make altered art for them all.

9. Made altered art for these people whenever possible, except when to do so would excessively deplete our supply stash.

10. Continued to take an inventory of our supplies, and when we were at the dollar store, liquidation store,or other junk store, promptly replenished it.

11. Sought through creativity and the wide world web to improve our conscious contact with other alteredanything artists, seeking and sharing inspiration wherever we went in our daily lives.

12. Having had an artistic awakening as the result of these steps,we tried to carry this message to other compulsive alteredanything artists, and to practice these principals in all our creative endeavours. AA 2005-2006 Copyright

Yep these are the steps i walk in my daily life try them u might like it..The pics above are some of my altered expressions.

Strolling On The Creative Path...

How Do Creative Ones????
They say that time does fly and i gotta tell ya i'm believing it...I see there has been a gap in posts oops.

Above is some funky pics,it was my time out yesterday and so i went to pick up some custom stamps that i had ordered. Aww Vancouver has some really kewl places to visit...so moving right along..off i go to 1000 Parker St which is this old warehouse building that has four floors of artists studios, its like a maze in there the hallways are not very exiciting but behind the closed doors are all sorts of wonder and eye candy.

Making my way to the fourth floor i arrived at my destination unsure what was behind studio 430....I knocked and entered into a large open space that is shared by three artists, yesterday (friday) was a blue sky day and the exception in this studio was windows and the light was pouring in dancing throughout the space.

I was in love and in my glory in the studio energy of all that creativity..
I arrived!!!!!

Claudia owner/operator of Purple Orange Arts has a very noticeable presence in this space... Its hard to take everything in the first time around..Claudia's Space showcases her many expressions of creativity, Business was taken care of very quickly so i could mosey round and ask questions about this and that.

I love my stamps that i ordered three of them, they will come in handy and i am very pleased.. i gotta tell ya people two thumbs up, there are all sorts of uses for a stamp....I felt that i met a creative kindred soul in Claudia.

Claudia will be a particpating Artist in Outsider Art In A Box Vending Machines, she will be making some mini stamps......Welcome Aboard Claudia

Claudia facilitates a diverse range of workshops and a couple that i would like to shout out about is her book making the above book pic is a workshop that she does with kids in schools kewl eh...well i want to do a book for my daughter so i am organizing some people so that we can make personal books.

The other one is the funky doll the name of the workshop is sensory awareness which is about movement then translated to the doll..i really liked putting the two together dance and a doll.

So for anyone that is interested in creating work for Outsider Art In A Box,the next big show for the art vending machines is the Interior and Home Design Show
at BC Place October 13-15. The deadline for your creativity is October 7/2006

I feel that i have been yapping or is it typing your ears and eyes off lol lol

YA YA ARTHOOD!!!!

My People My People!
Greetings from sunfilled Outsider Art In A Box Headquarters.... I am quite late getting this posting up today as it was fill the machines and test day. Yep the two machines are now placed at Granvillie Opus and Framing,North Vancouver Opus and Framing...i want to give a huge shout out to the staff at both places you guys rock!!!

I Thank-You for your enthusiasm, questions, curiousity and support for embracing Outsider Art In A Box Vending Machines in your stores.Sarah and Heidi thanx for putting this together!!!

Balance has been my mantra as of late, truly honouring the middle ground.. so fun and work are my daily walk...backing up a bit since i posted i have been taking in the water as of late either on it or watching the going on's.

This morning started out with the beautiful Granville Island,i gotta tell ya it looks way different early am,the blue skies and the so,lovely heat was very welcome as i trucked off to attend to the Granville Island Opus machine, then hoping a bus and sea bus to North Vancouver....Its been years since i took the sea bus it was a beautiful view outside all around. I am someone who enjoys public transportation,i sold my car when i moved into Vancouver as for me it was pointless driving in the constant speed and frenzy, yeah at times it may take a bit longer but i figure whats the hurry....i get to see a whole lot more when someone else is driving....

Thanx to Chris (Granville Island Opus) for lending a smile to Outsider Art In A Box Vending Machine painted by Nicci B. www.brushedwithmagic.com

Dusty and Christina ( North Vancouver Opus) are lending a creative pose and great smiles to Outsider Art In A Box Vending Machine decoupaged by Leanne B.
www.collagejoy.com.

We went on a cruise for my partners work on Saturday, the city sure looks different when one is floating about on the water...

A good friend jumped in this year to dragon boating,so yesterday i strolled over to check it all out,it was neat i was asked to join the team next year...flattering but i am more the zen on the water type, plus the fact i am so naturally directionally challenged that i would be going against the natural flow of the team...so i think i will be a spectator and a groupie and stay on solid ground.

The rest of the week for moi will be spent writing a proposal for the possibility of a Outsider Art In A Box Vending to go back to New Brunswick and appyling as a Artist In Residence this is all for Winter or Summer 2007,so please excuse me if i am not as chatty in upcoming posts gotta focus...

Your creative expression can fit into a box,try it u might like it...
Keep it coming!!!

Moving Right Along

The ragmag.net ran a story on Outsider Art In A Box Vending Machines, this magazine comes out of the Fraser Valley and is Published by Gwynne Hunt.

This Magazine can be found around Vancouver especially Commercial Dr. The next couple of days i am quite focused on preparing two machines for two Opus Framing stores on Granville Island & North Vancouver.

It amazes me how many little things need attention to keep things agoing....

For those that were unable to view all the vending machines that were at Petri Dish in July/August above pic is a peek-a-boo as to some of the creativty spread throughout seven of the machines.....

Well its a creative day here at headquarters, time to say so long for now....

Have an awesome day!!!

Alive and Kicking!

Howdy Ho Folks;
How goes it on this overcast day?? well me i am alive and kicking, which brings me to the title of this entry on this day. Often i am asked how r u?? and i truly became tired of the familiar fine and wanted to add some life to it and get some reaction to giving an unfamiliar response back. Its been interesting the responses i receive from i'm alive and kicking which is usually a chuckle and u can see lights come on in the person.

The other phrase i use is I live and Breathe, the seniors love that one and always have something very interesting and postive to say those responses open up dialogue and i hear and learn so much in that minutes time.

Speaking of Dialogue,a few weeks back or so i did a phone interview for an online podcast www.craftsanity.com based in the states.
Our phone interview was two hours long as i blathered on about my passion for art and my interaction with it. Jennifer the owner/operator of this podcast is a reporter by day and she enjoys putting her reporting skills to use in a creative way it was an awesome experience mind u i did alot of talking lol lol

Technology is amazing in all of its development, there are some things that have truly enhanced my life and other stuff whatever..

Outsider Art In A Box will be unveiling a new branch in the very near future so please stay tuned for the unveiling!!!

I encourage you to go and listen to the podcast its about an hour,it will give u insight as to what i do and why..as i often repeat myself throughout this podcast(groan) but what i do know is i love creativity and the many facets of it and i will go on about my passion given the chance lol lol

Thank You Jennifer for the interview, your time, energy ,creativity and sharing your own creative journey!

Ok folks make time to allow creativity to flow on into your world...

Go Fly A Kite!!!!

My People, My People;
How goes it??? Life is ebb and flow in this neck of the woods... I try to balance out all the things i do for Outsider Art In A Box Vending Machines with fun as it keeps everything upright and not uptight.

This week will be the last time you will see all the vending machines together at the Petri Dish 2406 Main St. The machines come down August 27th some will go to other venues..

The next couple of months will be moving rapidly for Outsider Central.Tomorrow an interview that i did for Craftsanity.com will be posted on Jennifers site, its a podcast so ya can hear what yours truly sounds like.

Yesterday i had a playdate with a couple friends, we ended up at Jericho Beach taking it all in......so kite flying was in order i continue to learn that balance is essential when one is facilitating a creative endeavour. So hey do me a favor go fly a kite and let me know how that felt.....

I do my part to support artists in purchasing their creative xpressions when i can, above is a piece that i purchased from artist Ann Blackwell,Ann also did one of the vending machines, the funky velvet machine with beading on it...i did an artist feature on Ann in previous posts if u can't remember her vending piece.

Well as usual Keep that creativity coming my way!!!

May the creative force be with u....

Celebration......

Its a beautiful day in the hood!!!
Ode to Sunny days and Blue skies
Time does not stand still it continues to tick on and thats whats a happening with Outsider Art In A Box....

Things are moving along faster than i am able to keep up with them, hmmm like
i 've said before this project has taken on a life of its own i know thats good
lol lol.. Something that is becoming obvious is that i am going to need a right hand to assist with many little things here at Outsider Central in the near future.

Opus Framing will have two of Outsider Art In A Box Vending Machines at their Granville Island Location and North Vancouver. The machines will be hosted there for a month. I know I know its still vacation time for many of u...no prob this will all be repeated in the fall.

Above u will notice a cute flyer....well Ruby Dogs Art house is gonna be two on Sunday and its Party Time......Leanne the owner/operator of this eclectic store embraced and has be a host venue to the first Outsider Art In A Box Vending Machine and has been very supportive and sharing of her business knowledge.

I gotta tell ya its hard for me not to come home with a little something, something from the art house, its an artists dream place so much to see

Whats even better is that there is going to be a Craft Flea Market on Sunday so count the pennies people and load up on the creative supplies. Come on now an artist can never have toooooooooo many supplies.. when i look at my space theres always room for more lol lol lol.

So cruise on down to Ruby Dogs Art House on Sunday August 20th 12-6 and celebrate with them!!!

4738 Main St.(btw 30&32)

Time to get at it!!!

Ta Ta For Now
Have an awesome weekend!
